2018 And Prior Roster

Most of our roster, up to 2018, was acquired prior to moving to Mount Dora, during the First incarnation of our garden railroad as we call it. Some we added while we made renovations to our Mount Dora home, like the flea market find. And some we added between what we call the Nest and the Third (Barkyard) incarnations. We say humble beginnings, and indeed they were.

We started with that Bachmann B&O Royal Blue set for the low, low price of $50! That First incarnation at our previous home in Wekiva was coming together nicely, complete with water feature! And it wasn't that loop of track around the pool! Ann bought me a Bachmann Three Truck Shay for Christmas 2013. And I got her the spiffy Bachmann Virginia & Truckee 4-6-0 and a set of passenger cars to go with it.

We now have at least a dozen school bus yellow colored Virginia & Truckee passenger cars to go with Ann's spiffy new ten wheeler. Shortly after Christmas, we expanded the roster with an ET&WNC "Tweetsie" ten wheeler and freight cars to go with it. Even a bobber caboose! Early into Spring of the following year, we added a set of green Pennsylvania passenger cars for the green "Tweetsie" ten wheeler to pull as well. Now we have yellow, green, and blue passenger trains!

That was the extent of our equipment roster for a long time, until...

The so called Nest incarnation, our affectionate name for our new home in Mount Dora, was a bit of a false start. After getting a couple of loops installed, we had to take everything all back apart and store it while we had some trees removed and other renovations took priority. It took us much longer than we thought it would to restore the yard so everything railroad fell into disrepair.

With the Third (Barkyard) incarnation, roster expansion really picked up. Next was the flea market find, a group of three Big Haulers along with some freight and passenger cars. Two AT&SF ten wheelers, and another V&T like Ann's, together with assorted cars. Each set was labelled individually, but we bought the lot. They even threw in a bridge for good measure.

Now we have nearly a half dozen AT&SF passenger cars along with that dozen of V&T passenger cars now, and another half dozen in other liveries too. With those additions, we have red, yellow, green, and blue passenger trains, all pulled by ten wheelers! Most of the passenger cars have our WiFi lighting controller and LED strips installed. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Hope you enjoy these videos from the First incarnation.
